Hockey Day Minnesota Tailgate Announced

Stouthockey.com is pleased to announce tailgating information for UW-Stout’s game vs. St. Olaf on January 23rd at the Xcel Energy Center.  Devils’ Advocates, parents, students, alumni and other fans are to meet at Cosetta’s Italian Market at 11:30 a.m. for a tailgate lunch.

Cosetta’s is an incredibly popular place in the Twin Cities and is often regarded as the best pizzeria in the cities, true New York style pizza sold by gigantic the slice.  Online reviews show it has 4 1/2 out of a possible 5 stars.  Here is a recent review from one customer:

“I used to go here only for the pizza, which is probably the best pizza in the twin cities.   I want to make sure that everyone knows about the rest of Cosetta’s as well.    Go there for the pizza, keep going back to try their pasta’s, and then become a regular customer when you start to discover all of the amazing products they have in their deli, like fresh baked bread, pizza dough to take home and make your own pizza’s, italian meats, cheeses, olives, pasta’s, oh my frickin goodness.” — Courtesy of Nicolas P via Yelp.com

Don’t worry if your not a pizza fan, Cosetta’s has tons of great true Italian food.  No processed or frozen food here, this is the real deal and you can taste the difference!  Best of all?  It’s priced quite cheap!

After the meal at Cosetta’s those of legal age are encouraged to walk across the street to McGoverns Patrick Pub for some pre-game drinks. McGoverns & Cosetta’s are both very popular hangouts for Minnesota Wild fans before home games.

Here is a map to help you.  As you can see, these great gems are within 1 block of the Xcel Energy Center!

What exactly is Hockey Day Minnesota?  Glad you asked!

Hockey Day Minnesota is a day in Minnesota run in cooperation with the Minnesota Wild and Fox Sports North that features at least two Minnesota High School Boys Hockey games, a Minnesota Gopher men’s hockey game, and a Minnesota Wild NHL game.  Many games are played outdoors on constructed rinks specifically for Hockey Day Minnesota.

2009 Highlights

Devils To Play At Xcel Energy Center

The UW-Stout Blue Devils will have the chance of a lifetime in late January when they play in the Xcel Energy Center.  UW-Stout will face St. Olaf College on January 23rd, 2010 at 1:30 p.m.

In years past, games between the two schools have been at a neutral site.  The last two years brought the ‘College Hockey Showcase’ to Buffalo, MN as each team had one Buffalo, MN native on their roster.  A large cookout in the parking lot with plenty of community support in Buffalo, the College Hockey Showcase was a great success.  With both players now graduated, the series needed a new neutral site and what better place than the home of the Minnesota Wild (NHL).

January 23rd is a big day for hockey in Minnesota, it’s also Hockey Day Minnesota.  It’s unknown how much mention the match-up will receive on FSN’s coverage, either way it’s an exciting opportunity for everyone involved!

Keep checking back as we will have more information in the coming days.  You can also count on Stouthockey.com for coverage and content you wont find anywhere else while the team is at the Xcel Energy Center.
