Pre-Game Tailgate At BWW in Eau Claire

The Devils’ Advocates are planning a pre-game tailgate tomorrow, Friday December 4th, 2009 at the Buffalo Wild Wings in Eau Claire. Fans should show up at 5:00 p.m. for the feast and plan on heading straight to Hobbs Ice Arena after the tailgate. Bring your friends and appetite as you gear up for this weekends I-94 Interstate battle between UW- Stout and UW-Eau Claire!

Tailgate Bash Planned For Oct. 30th
October 15th, 2009 Matt.Kaskavitch UW-Stout hockey fans just received another thing to cheer about. There is a large tailgate event planned for the season opener on October 30th. The Blue Devils face-off against St. Norberts College at 7:30 p.m.
There will be a large tent including live music from a rock band which will begin playing at 5:30 p.m. There will also be $1 hot dogs being sold hot off the grill. Coach Terry Watkins encourages all fans to come early and come prepared to tailgate!
“It’s just going to be a lot of fun, I hope we get lots of people taking part in the tailgating.” said Watkins. “It’s a great tradition we have here at Stout” he added.
So be prepared to get there early on Friday night, 5 p.m. is a good bet! Bring your appetite and tailgate equipment!
There will be multiple large bonfires ongoing during the tailgate and after the game to stay warm!
The game starts at 7 p.m. on Friday and 4 p.m. on Saturday.

No Comments »NHL 10 Showcase Dominated By Tenders
October 11th, 2009 Matt.Kaskavitch Gamers converged on North Hall this morning to partake in the 2nd annual EA Sports NHL 10 Showcase Showdown. Two clear favorites emerged as Mike Morgan (G) and Tom Lescovich (G) both won their first rounds convincingly. Brandon Larson (D) is still in a best-of-three series battle with new UW-Stout hockey color commentator Dan Walenski. That third game should make for one exciting finish.
Matt Kaskavitch (play-by-play) was knocked into the losers bracket along with Devils’ Advocate fan Caleb Sherman. Their fates have yet to be fully determined.
Many tournament favorites were no-shows for the event including Tony V (DA), Matt Morin (F) and Jared Britton (F).
The tournament is set to finish next weekend as schedules conflicted and the tournament had to be put on halt for the day.

October 3rd, 2009 Matt.Kaskavitch The Devils Advocates are planning a ‘Freak Fest Costume Party’ at the Dunn Co. on October 31st, 2009. The Blue Devils will face off against rival St. Norbert’s College (SNC) at 4 p.m. It was just two years ago the Blue Devils played against SNC for the NCHA Peter’s Cup.
Come up with your best costume ideas and strut your stuff on the metal runways of the Dunn Co. Ice Palace. The more people who dress up the more fun it will be! 
Tailgating will begin at 2:30 p.m. outside the arena with the fire trailer, music and lots of great conversation!
All freshmen or students who are new to the ‘Devils Advocates’ are encouraged to attend. Come out to the tailgate and find someone wearing a Stout hockey jersey. Introduce yourself and they’ll take you under their wing!

Stout Students To Host NHL10 Tournament

A few Blue Devil players and Stout hockey play-by-play announcer Matt Kaskavitch have organized the second annual EA Sports NHL10 Showcase Showdown. The video game madness is set to take place on October 11, 2009 on the UW-Stout campus. The tournament will have both PS3 and Xbox 360 platforms available. The entry cost for participants is $5.
The tournament will be using NHL10 from EA Sports which was just released this week. NHL09 won a plethora of awards including sports game of the year.
A couple of favorites have emerged for the tournament. Sophomore goaltender Mike Morgan (Northfield, MN) is currently ranked in the top 1000 on Xbox live. Sophomore Matt Morin is another potential championship contender.
“This is a chance for fans to play against their favorite Blue Devil hockey player on the sticks.” said Matt Kaskavitch.

Primelink Goes Social To Spread Word

The Primelink Great Northern Shootout has gone social. Primelink is offering a Facebook group and Twitter page for those interested in following the activities at Norwich University this Thanksgiving holiday. If your interested in these media channels, check out the links below.
The social media effort is being spearheaded by Jon Durieux, an intern in Primelink’s marketing department. Don’t forget you can count on Stouthockey.com to bring you all the latest on UW-Stout in the form of tweets, photos, video and player interviews while in Vermont.
Devils’ Advocates Now Recruiting Students!
July 25th, 2009 Matt.Kaskavitch The Devils’ Advocates would like to welcome all the incoming freshmen to UW-Stout’s class of 2013. It looks to be another exciting year on-campus for hockey fans! The Devils’ Advocates (DA), UW-Stout hockey’s official student section, are looking for new hockey nuts for the 2009-2010 season!
The DA was founded in 2005 by members of UW-Stout’s ROTC program. Membership has been slowly growing since then and exploded in the last two years. Many students have to get to the rink at least one-hour before the start of the game to get a seat in the section. Many supporters also gather two hours in advance of the game to tailgate in the parking lot with loud music and a custom built portable fire trailer maintainted by the student section. Students often intermingle with UW-Stout alumni and parents of the players while tailgating outside.
You may be asking yourself, what do I need to join the Devils’ Advocates? Absolutley nothing, well maybe a passion for Stout hockey! Just come down to a home game and introduce yourself to any student wearing a Stout hockey jersey and tell them your a freshmen, they’ll gladly welcome you and teach you the ways of the DA! Need a ride from campus to the arena? No worries, a DA can cover that! Want to go to an away game but have no wheels on campus, hook up with some DA’s and car pool to the road game!
